Our Testimony
OUR JOURNEY TO THE "PROMISED LAND" OF HEALTH
For a numbers of years, Romsey and I have been searching for answers in the area
of our health and for the most part, answers haven't come easy or cheap.
I spent eight(8) years of my life pursuing a career in the medical field with
five years in the premed curriculum receiving a degree in Biology from Texas A&M
University, two(2) years doing research at Southwestern Medical School, then
another year doing volunteer work at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
I applied twice to medical school receiving an interview the first year but the
second year I didn't get interviewed. Being a little discouraged, I turned a
hobby of automotive repair into a profession.
Seven(7) years later, I got married to Romsey and two(2) months later she became
pregnant with our first child. In her third month of pregnancy, our doctor
informed us that we had a serious complication developing. Romsey's blood type
is Rh negative and she had antibodies developing for Rh positive blood.
That means her body's immune system was reacting to the babies Rh positive
blood. Romsey nearly carried the child full term but it had to be taken by
emergency C-section due to severe anemia in the child resulting from the
reaction in Romsey's body. After two blood transfusions and over a week in
neonatal intensive care, we came home with our first born baby boy.
Then came the doctor and hospital bills. We had insurance at that time that
covered much of the bills but our rates nearly doubled. Due to the high cost
each month, we decided to drop our insurance.
Some people might say that was a foolish move but that decision has turned
out to be one of the biggest blessings in our lives by the fact that it forced
us to look at ways to take care of ourselves before we get sick rather than
after.
Well, it wasn't long until our second child was on the way and our doctor was
convinced this pregnancy had the same complication as the first. Since we didn't
have insurance, our doctor sent us to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas,
Texas. The doctors there were convinced, as well, that Romsey's immune system
was reacting to this child in the same way her body was to the first.
After several tests checking the amniotic fluid, they determined it was
imperative we undergo a risky procedure to draw blood from the umbilical cord of
the baby, using a six (6) inch needle. He informed us that there was a 3% chance
the procedure could cause a blood clot in the umbilical cord, killing the baby
but there was a greater risk of loosing the child not doing the test that doing
it.
Finally, after all the stress from all the procedures including sonograms,
amniocenteses, and then this risky blood testing procedure, the doctors informed
us there was no need for concern, the baby had Romsey's blood type.
To say the least, our emotions were mixed with gratefulness and frustration;
gratefulness that everything was alright, frustration that we'd been through so
much for nothing. On top of that, it turned out we didn't qualify for medical
assistance so in came a whole new crop of medical bills even though the tests
they conducted turned out to be mistaken diagnosis on their part.
Our next experience with the medical community turned out to be our last. Our
second child was now about a year and a half old and every morning he woke up
completely clogged up with mucous to the point he could hardly breathe.
So we took him to our pediatrician who diagnosed him with asthma. He
immediately wanted to put him on medication and a respirator. We asked if there
was anything we could do nutritionally that would help this condition and he
said "You can change your diet if you want but it won't do any good".
We then consulted a nutritionist over the telephone and he instructed us to get
the child off cow's milk and onto raw goat's milk. Following his recommendation,
in just two(2) weeks, the mucous was completely cleared up and to this day, now
over seven(7) years later, he's not had anymore problems.
This was a real turning point in our lives because having lost all confidence in
the very profession I had spent so much of my life to be a part of, we felt
forced to look elsewhere for help.
We began to learn all we could in the area of nutrition, applying what we
learned. Our diet began to change by cutting out red meat, baking our own
fresh-ground whole wheat bread, and drinking purified water.
A lot of what we learned was through our pastor, Mike Hayes of Covenant
Church in Carrollton, TX, who was making a number of changes in his own diet due
to recommendations by his doctor, Joel Robbins of Tulsa, OK. These changes
continued gradually for the next couple of years. Then something dramatic
happened in our lives.
We went to out of town to visit a friend who had suffered from silicon toxicity
which ultimately resulted in serious autoimmune problems such as lupus and
arthritis. She testified that after going on a mostly raw
foods diet with a quality barley powder
and a lot of vegetable juices as well as
cleansing her colon with Herbal
Fiberblend, she totally recovered in a matter of one year.
We were so impressed by her testimony that we felt compelled to learn as much as
we could about this lifestyle of eating.
What we learned there seemed almost too good to be true. It was so simple yet
made so much sense. We knew, as so many now know, that what we eat can cause a
number of health problems but we didn't realize that our health problems could
totally reverse by changing what we eat.
So Romsey and I thought "What have we got to lose, let's get ourselves and our
children started on this diet. It certainly can't hurt to eat more raw, fresh
fruit and vegetables". So we made this change along with replacing all of our
processed vitamin and mineral supplements with a whole food concentrate called
BARLEYGREEN ®
distributed wholesale from
AIM International. AIM has recently released a new improved version of barley
powder called BARLEYLIFE™ that has 2
to 3 times the nutrient content a its predecessor Barleygreen®. For a

Like most people, as we grow older, we get accustomed to our body not working as
well as it used to. We think our body degenerating is just a part of life.
Some of the conditions I had grown accustomed to were athlete's foot which
had left one of my feet extremely dry and cracked, stabbing pains in my chest,
arthritic lumps on some of my knuckles as well stiffness in my joints, allergies
that had progressively grown worse and worse each year, and a rash on my chest I
couldn't seem to get rid of.
After making these dietary changes, the first thing we noticed we had a more
consistent energy level throughout the day. Our energy no longer went on a
roller coaster ride for the day.
After about three or four months I felt like someone had done a lube job on
all my joints and the lumps on my knuckles were gone. My foot that had been dry
and cracked now had baby soft skin all over it. In a few more months, I noticed
there were no more stabbing chest pains and my blood pressure had dropped 20
points and my heart beat at rest had dropped 10 beats per minute.
It now was the most dreaded, miserable time of year for me, "the ragweed season",
and it came and went with hardly a sniffle. Normally, I would have sneezed
uncontrollably, rubbed my eyes raw, and have gone through nearly a case of
Kleenex tissues by the end of the season. Even the rash on my chest was gone.
All these changes happened with no medication and no costly visits to the
doctor.
Romsey was in her third month of pregnancy with our fifth child when we began
eating mostly raw foods. The third and fourth child had been born at home with the
assistance of a midwife and this was the route we were taking for this child as
well.
During the pregnancy, the midwife took periodic blood tests to check the Rh
antibody level and the tests showed the antibody level to be dropping. That
indicated that there was no reaction going on between Romsey and the baby and we
assumed the baby had the same blood type.
The baby went full term and was born at home with no complications, perfectly
healthy and the second largest born of any of our children. The midwife asked if
I'd like to check the blood type and I said that I would. Three(3) days later
she called with the results with shock in her voice. She said, "Andrew, you're
not going to believe this. This baby doesn't have Romsey's blood type, it has
yours!".
I almost fell over. Our OBGYN had told us we would have this condition for life
or at least twenty years and each successive child having Rh positive blood
would progressively get worse and that we would never carry a Rh positive baby
full term without serious complications. To say the least, we were extremely
excited.
Although we saw wonderful results initially on the Hallelujah Diet, after
several years on the diet we began to have symptoms indicating nutrient
deficiencies. We have since made some adjustments to our diet to include clean
animal products such as raw goat milk, farm fresh eggs, and salmon caught in the
wild, not farm raised, and wild game like deer and antelope that we kill and
process ourselves. See http://www.itsyourhealth2.com/pages/testimony/deficiencies.htm
for our updated testimony.
