A couple of years ago, while
enjoying a walk in the country, I noticed a group of cows
grazing to their fill in a field of luscious tall green grass.
There were probably a dozen or so cows just sitting in the
middle of this particular field chewing their cud. I remember
thinking to myself how content they all were with their full
bellies.
Then the Lord spoke to me saying, “Little do they realize,
they’re eating for their own slaughter.” The first thought
that came to my mind was the day the “green grass party” would
come to an end when the trucks arrive to load them up.
Then my eyes were suddenly opened to the fact that we’re
eating for our own slaughter too.
Most of us today eat without any understanding of why and for
what purpose we eat. We eat because our bellies are empty and
we’re hungry. So we find something yummy to fill our tummy until
we’re satisfied not realizing and usually not caring what was in
the food we just ate.
In this manner, we eat for our own “slaughter” as well. Our
slaughter comes in the form of heart disease, cancer, arthritis,
diabetes, and the list goes on.
As I mentioned in the previous newsletter in the article,
“Death by Fork”, the enemy doesn’t care how he takes us out, “A
357 Magnum or a fork, it’s all the same to him”. John 10:10
states, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy…”
Most Americans literally have their health stolen from them.
They don’t guard their health as one of their most priceless
possessions. Only when they loose their health do they realize
its value, finding all their earthly possessions not able to
redeem this most priceless commodity.
Imagine a cow with its head in a feeding trough eating to its
heart’s content. Now imagine American’s with their heads in
feeding troughs of fast “convenient” food, eating to their
heart’s content, not realizing they’re digging their own grave
with a fork, one bite at a time.
I’d imagine if there was such a government agency today
called “BPS” or that is “Body Protective Services”, most
Americans today would be having a knock at their front door by a
social worker and have their bodies taken into custody for
“neglect and abuse”. In fact, most bodies today would turn their
owners in for abuse.
It’s time we realize the purpose of food.
A pastor and author named Miles Monroe mentioned in one of
his books titled The Pursuit of Purpose, “Whenever purpose is
not known, abuse will always follow.” We will ultimately abuse
our bodies if our knowledge and understanding of the purpose of
food doesn’t go beyond satisfying our belly. As we understand
our Creator’s purpose and line our lives up accordingly, we’ll
no longer abuse ourselves.
We have approximately 100 trillion cells in our body and they
die and replace themselves at an approximate rate of 300 million
cells per minute. The new cells that replace the dying ones are
totally dependent upon what we eat to provide building materials
in order to build new healthy cells.
When we eat “junk” food, one can only imagine what kind of
cells we’re building our bodies with. It’s no wonder so many of
us are dying at young ages with degenerative diseases.
Over the past 100 years, the degenerative disease rate in 40
year old and older Americans has risen from 20% to 70%. What was
consider an old persons disease is now the leading cause of
death in our youth as cancer is now the leading killer of
children under 10 years old.
God told us the content and purpose of food just after he
created man. In Genesis 1:29, He states, “ Behold, I have
given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all
the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree
yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” The word “meat”
is translated from the original Hebrew text as meaning food or
nourishment.
In other words the content of what we were originally told to
eat was raw fresh fruits and vegetables for the purpose of
nourishing our bodies. As we begin to understand the purpose of
food and it’s relationship to us fulfilling our God given
purpose, we’ll begin eating to live rather than living to eat.
Just as our bodies have gone into a state of degeneration
over the years as we’ve eaten foods void of nutrition, we can go
into a state of regeneration by adding foods full of nutrition.
As we add a greater source of nutrition to our diets by
eating more and more raw, fresh fruits and vegetables, the cells
that replace the dying ones have a greater source of building
materials to build the next replacement cell. The net result is
our bodies go into a state of regeneration.
There was an interesting 3-part experiment done with rats
comparing the effects of raw foods vs. cooked foods. One group
of rats fed raw foods including raw vegetables, fruits, nuts and
whole grains grew from birth into completely healthy specimens
and never suffered from any disease. They were never ill.
Upon reaching an old age, equivalent to 80 years in humans,
these rats were put to death and autopsied. At that advanced
age, their organs, glands, tissues and all body processes
appeared to be in perfect condition with no sign of aging or
deterioration.
A second group were fed a diet comparable to that of the
average American which included white bread, cooked foods,
meats, milk, salt, soft drinks, candies, cakes, vitamins and
other supplements, medicines for their ailments, etc. During
their lifetime, these rats became fat and from the earliest age,
contracted most of the diseases of modern American society
including colds, fever, pneumonia, poor vision, cataracts, heart
disease, arthritis, cancer, and many more.
As rats died in this group, autopsies revealed extensive
degenerative conditions in every part of their bodies.
A third group of rats were fed the same diet as the second
group to the age equivalent of approximately 40 years in humans.
They displayed the same general symptoms of sickness and
disease. At the end of this initial period, the rats that had
survived were placed on a water fast for several days then began
the same raw diet as the first group.
After one month, they never suffered any illness. Several
rats were put to death and autopsied at the end of the initial
period revealing the same general deterioration as exhibited in
the second group of rats.
(NOW HERE’S WHERE IT GETS EXCITING!!!)
